Become a Decorating Disciple

Thank you for considering joining our mission in blessing individuals and families around the community in their moments of rejoicing and celebration. Our gracious volunteers make this dream possible for so many people.

Please take a few moments to look over some of the basics of joining our Decorating Disciples.

What is a
Decorating Disciple?

“Decorating Disciple” is a special title reserved for volunteers who are specifically able and willing to bake, decorate, and deliver cakes to approved recipient nominees. Decorating Disciples are the backbone of our mission and the blessing angels behind each donated cake.

Do I have to be a professional baker or cake decorator?

Absolutely not! Whether you’re a beginner or a well-seasoned professional, you can bring joy to our cake recipient nominees. Love is the most important ingredient, so as long as you’re baking with love, our recipients are excited and grateful for any cake you make them!

If I can’t deliver cakes, can I still be a Decorating Disciple?

You may still be a Decorating Disciple if, for whatever reason, you cannot deliver your cakes. You can have someone you trust, like a family member or friend, deliver the cake on your behalf. We also have non-baking volunteers who are willing to deliver cakes as well.

Is there an availability requirement?

There is no set availability requirement. When we receive and validate a donation request, we will begin the pairing process with a Decorating Disciple. If we reach out to you with a request, we only ask that you respond promptly whether you’d like to take it or pass it on to another volunteer. We also ask that, once you commit to a cake, you adhere to any marked instructions (such as dietary or allergy restrictions) and follow through with a timely delivery.

What if I accept a request but can’t follow through?

If you find that, for whatever reason, you cannot follow through with a request, you should notify Confections of Faith immediately so that we have as much time as possible to explore alternatives and, if necessary, find a replacement volunteer.

Can I use a store-bought cake?

Part of the charm to Confections of Faith is the homemade baking. The personal love and effort that go into baking and decorating a cake are a true testament to Christian love. However, should you have an emergency that renders you unable to bake a cake, you may replace it with a store-bought cake upon prior approval from a Confections of Faith administrator.

How creative can I get with my cakes?

You can be as creative and unique as your heart desires. We do require that you follow any marked dietary restrictions and adhere to requested flavors or flavor groups (these may not always be specific requests). Try your best to adhere to any specific decor requests.

Can I post pictures/ videos of my cake on social media?

Absolutely! We encourage you to share your creations however you like and tag Confections of Faith in your posts. Just make sure to avoid disclosing personal information about the individual or organizational recipient. If the cake is going to an organization, never disclose the organization’s name. If it is going to an individual, you may share the recipient’s first name and age only.
